This Journey takes us through a unique area perfectly suited to exploration by sea kayak - Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge. During the first half of the summer, this area is visited by a variety of striking sea birds, such as Atlantic Puffins, Razorbills, and Oystercatchers. This trip is as much about employing your trip planning and boat handling skills, as it is about the sights. Though we'll be covering a bit more distance than we do in our regular classes, there will still be time for working on stroke efficiency, navigation, and other topics that will enhance the journey and make you a safer, more self-sufficient paddler.
Participants should have basic rescue skills, and be capable of paddling 10-15 miles in a day. Bird-nesting limits our options for landings on this trip, so participants should be comfortable staying in their boats for up to 3 hours.
$140 per person (I accidentally had this course listed as full. It's not!)
