Along the Downeast Coast, about an hour east of Ellsworth, there is a cluster of islands with some of the best rock-garden play areas I've seen in Maine.  Because of the drive, we only get there a few times each year, and every visit feels too short.  

After the July 15th Journey to Petit Manan Lighthouse to visit the puffins, you're invited to island-camp in the midst of this outstanding training spot, and spend the next day enjoying these awesome rock-garden venues at a more relaxed pace. 

We will secure the camping reservation, but otherwise the overnight will be a relaxed, self-catered affair.
