2025 Courses are up!

Hello Paddlers,

Though it may have snowed again yesterday, we’re bound to find ourselves on the water in warmer conditions eventually, so it’s high time I reached out to fill you in on my winter, and share some spring paddling updates with you all!

In the space between my last kayak course in November, and my first courses in March this year, I’ve been focusing on WARMTH to combat what’s felt like a bit of a longer and colder winter. With both my kids now at college, I built a sauna at home, and managed to bum a ride on my friend’s sailboat to the Bahamas for a couple weeks. But now, with April upon us, it’s time to look ahead to another Maine paddling season. (If you see me in a drysuit on warmer than usual paddling days this summer, you’ll know just how soft I became this winter!)

As many of you have already discovered on your own, the 2025 Pinniped Kayak Course Schedule is up and running on the website now. Thanks to those of you who have already sent in registrations. Check it out if you have not already, and start planning how you’d like to work towards your goals with us this season!

You’ll find all the fun favorites, including Foundations courses, Instructor Training, our Lubec Skills Weekend, multiple opportunities to get out in Whitewater Kayaks with us, and of course our cozy little sea kayak event, Chasing Water, on October 11th - 13th!

(Want to jumpstart your season with a couple days of Whitewater training late this month? Our Vermont WW course is coming up soon, and it’s an easier than usual drive for many of you.)

As you can imagine, it’s strange times for kayak equipment sales right now. While P&H is still cranking out amazingly designed and built kayaks, prices of these British-made kayaks are being impacted by the new trade barriers, and increases have recently been announced across the P&H/Pyranha line-up. However, I do have a handful of Corelite sea kayaks that were imported before tariffs took effect, as well as a number of Pyranha WW boats. If you are interested in talking boats or arranging a test paddle, just get in touch.

Also, drop me a line if you have any questions about classes, updates about your winter, fun paddling plans, or just to say “Hi”. It’ll be good to hear how everyone’s doing.

Looking forward to being together soon, whether it’s on the sea, next to a river, or at Black Moon Public House!

Cheers,
Nate
