A Quick Spring Update
Hi Everyone!
Downeast Maine is bouncing around somewhere between fool’s spring and third winter up here, but, nonetheless, it feels like we’re making progress towards paddling season! I’ve enjoyed quite a few days on the ocean with College of the Atlantic already, and my family has been taking to the rivers in a canoe lately, instead of on skates.
It’s been wonderful to hear from so many of you about your course plans for this summer, and I look forward to seeing you all as the season begins in earnest, later this month. A few courses have already reached capacity, but there is still space in many others. Have a look at the full schedule, or Contact us to find the right options for you.
Wondering where to start? This year’s new Foundations Series, a variety of (mostly) Saturday classes, is designed to help you progress from flat-water paddler to independent coastal sea kayaker. Gain the skills and confidence to safely journey among Maine islands by sea kayak! This is your path; Mark Schoon is your patient and supportive sherpa!
Looking for new challenges? Our area offers so many fun and exciting options, and our multi-day paddler development courses are the best way to advance your existing skills in tidal falls, rock gardens and whatever other good stuff we can find. There’s still space to join me for our July and August dates!
The Gear Store is fully stocked, and most items are now up on the website. We’ve got P&H kayaks, Werner paddles, and Immersion Research skirts back in stock - get ‘em before they’re gone again!
Lastly, Todd Wright, Josh Hall and I have unexpected availability on June 28th and 29th, and we’re taking your suggestions for what to offer! How would you spend 2 days with this coaching team to get your season off on a strong footing? Rolling, Rescues and Surfing at Blue Hill and Sullivan Falls? Incident management and leadership planning? Puffins and Rock-garden Combo? Nothing is off-limits, so let your imagination run. Send me your dream plan, and we’ll make it happen!
See you soon!
