Coastal Islands Journey - Mount Desert Island, ME

This day brings all the basic skills together into the context of a journey to the islands off Mount Desert Island - after all, isn’t that the point of becoming a skilled sea kayaker!? This day will build on prior instruction instruction such as trip-planning, strokes, navigation and safety. We’ll have a goal of getting somewhere so this day’s teaching will be more about concise refinement and on-the-go coaching, rather than the more time-intensive skill-building that typifies our other classes. We’ll expect to cover 10-15 miles at a moderate pace during this day’s journey, with breaks every couple hours.

$140 per person.                                                                 Contact us for more information or to register.

This course is part of Coastal Skills Weekend, including: Rescues, Bracing, and Strokes Refinement (May 29); Coastal Skill (May 30); and Coastal Journey (May 31). All together, this weekend makes a great transition from novice or flat-water paddler to competent coastal sea kayaker.
